Just saw on the Fantagraphics website that the third issue of Jordan Crane’s personal anthology has gone on pre-order. After the cancellation of Sammy Harkham’s Crickets series by Drawn and Quarterly (due to changes in Diamonds minimum order system), I feared that Uptight had gone the same way. Luckily it’s not the case.

 Jordan Crane’s Uptight anthology has been published by Fantagraphics since 2006. Averaging at one 20 page issue per year, it makes reading it a bit  like watching a car chase in annual 60 second slow motion clips. Nonetheless his work is amazing and  he’s one of my favourite comic book artists and printmakers. Check out www.reddingk.com for more of his comics, books, mini comics and prints.

Windell Classic's Compendium Presents Superhero Showcase

Looks like the Irish comic scene continues to grow at an inverse rate to our battered economy. I can’t offer any explanation for this, but it’s great to see new players to the pitch:

The launch of this fine, soon to be available, publication will take place on May 8th, upstairs in Anseo Public House, 18 Camden Street Lower, Dublin 2. There will be copies of the wonderful comic there for purchase and there might even be other people in attendance.

Word on the grapevine is that the comic is absolutely brilliant. Judging from the cover above and the samples I’ve seen over on Salvo’s blog, there’s no evidence to the contrary.
